Rat Dermal Fibroblasts
 (RDF)

Rat Dermal Fibroblasts (RDF) are derived from the dermis of normal Sprague Dawley rats. They are cryopreserved at first passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 8 population doublings. 

The arginase activity was significantly elevated in wound?derived fibroblasts from Lewis rats compared to normal dermal fibroblasts underlines the distinct regulation of l-arginine metabolism in wound-derived fibroblasts1. RDF were modified genetically to act like Schwann’s cells to deliver nerve growth factor2. The role of skin fibroblast elastase on the degeneration of elastic fiber caused by UV irradiation was tested on the rat hind leg3.
