Canine Chondrocytes
 (CnC)

Canine Chondrocytes (CnC ) are isolated from normal canine articular cartilage. They are cryopreserved at first passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 10 population doublings.

CnC cultured in agarose 3-D constructs of osteoarthritis (OA) model were used to test the effect of carpofen and dexamethasone1. Porous gene-supplemented collagen-glycosaminoglycan (GSCG) matrices were fabricated to provide sustained release of plasmid DNA carrying therapeutic gene to articular chondrocytes2. Autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) in a canine model was evaluated in terms of change in composition of reparative tissue with time3. Cultured autologous chondrocytes were used in treating articular cartilage defects as compared with microfracture, a type-II collagen matrix4.
